I'm actually trying to go back and watch them all now. I usually get so critical about it and just think about things like where my arm should have went instead and things like that, so it's never as much fun to watch myself. But recently I have felt like it might be good either way, because I can either study them to see what I can improve on, or just enjoy myself and shoot a ton of loads. Win win... I think so.

I do run across this question pretty frequently and It's still funny because sometimes it can be such an awkward one for me to answer. More so awkward for them because they don't know what to say after. I usually end up saying something like, I currently work in the adult industry and then just see what they say from there. Of course that usually tends to spark a million questions. Another funny thing is, I'm not exactly sure when I'll actually feel like a "pornstar" so that sometimes causes hesitation in my response.

I live in SF so it happens pretty often actually. One funny thing I've noticed is that the fans of gay porn are made up of all types of people. I've had women come up to me before because they recognize me and that always throws me off. I also feel like SF is so tiny so most people are aware.
What is next for Derrek Diamond?
I'm currently working with Raging Stallion to set up my website. I hope to build off of that and would love to start working in other facets of the industry as well. Now that I'm a RSS exclusive it will allow me more time to focus on the business aspects and I'm also looking forward to starting to teach group exercise and enjoying some of my other hobbies again.
What is some advice you'd give to a fresh face who wants to get into the business?
There's so many things I would have loved to be told when I was starting out and actually I had some great mentors so I was lucky. I will say this, make sure you take the time to really think about your name and persona because that will be with you forever. I think it's important to always have a voice along the way and follow your gut, because there might be times when you want to speak up and say something but feel scared or out of place but it's your "company name" now and you should have a say too. Also pay attention to your surroundings, learn as much as you can from everyone because there's a lot of knowledge (amongst some other things) flying around so put your arm out and grab on. The internet make this world such a small one.

What gave you the idea to get your famous head tattoo?
I started to lose my hair at age 19 and also wanted to do something bold as a late teen... The only reason I got this tattoo is for that. I'd lost my hair really young, that's really all. It was very traumatic! If you're asking me the inspiration of its design, I’d answer that I was inspired by the hiphop black and Latino guys who slightly shave their heads and design each angle at the top of their forehead like that - JayZ, Usher, PDiddy. But I'm not black; the effect is different on lighter skin with the blue tone of the tattoo.

Erik Rhodes, he's the only one who's motivating me right now. I met him twice, very briefly, at awards shows and we got to know each other. That's not their way of doing it. Supporting a team of models - more than only one model--and supporting the movie itself first is more appropriate for them. I discovered their way of operation lately and I respect that kind of process; it's just a way to make sure that the career of everyone is evolving slowly but surely, not like shooting stars.
I'm explaining all this to let you know that I still see myself being in this industry for at least a couple more years, maybe interrupted between to re-invent myself. Maybe with a new wig!

Just BE READY... but my advice is, don't think you will be the New Star because it will never happen; the more you want to be famous, the more you have the chance to fail. This goes not only for porn, but for everything. And never act like a star before you become one...I know a lot of porn actors who think they're irreplaceable; I think that’s terrible behavior...I am replaceable, everybody's replaceable, there is room for everybody. The word "pornstar" is not part of my vocabulary.
