How long have you been in the business now?
I really started in France in January 2005... and I began my porn career in the US 6 months later, in July 2005.
So now I've been in the business for more than two years already. I feel old and overused at 28 years old!!
How did you get your first job in the adult industry?
Somebody came to talk to me on Gaydar (I was 25 at the time). A friend of the owner of a French company I'd done a few scenes for noticed my pictures and was already very interested in getting me work; I started a few weeks later.
But basically, I already had it in my mind to become a porn performer (since I was 21 or 22 years old), and doing it in the US was my main goal. There's no porn industry in France; it's not really professional even if some of the guys are fucking hot.
What gave you the idea to get your famous head tattoo?
I started to lose my hair at age 19 and also wanted to do something bold as a late teen... The only reason I got this tattoo is for that. I'd lost my hair really young, that's really all. It was very traumatic! If you're asking me the inspiration of its design, I’d answer that I was inspired by the hiphop black and Latino guys who slightly shave their heads and design each angle at the top of their forehead like that - JayZ, Usher, PDiddy. But I'm not black; the effect is different on lighter skin with the blue tone of the tattoo.
Now I ruined my head LOL... everybody's looking at me like I'm a freak and this tattoo is the best opportunity for gay-haters and queens to criticize me. LOL. If they don't like it, fine, I should have expected bad reactions… Whatever, life goes on!
Who in the gay porn industry do you look up to?
Erik Rhodes, he's the only one who's motivating me right now. I met him twice, very briefly, at awards shows and we got to know each other. By far, he's the most masculine and beautiful guy in this industry I've ever seen.... (Dred Scott, also amazing, retired, so I can forget about working with him one day). The good thing with Erik Rhodes is that he doesn't look gay or like a princess.... or like a fucking "sissy" like he told me once. And he's doing good music and sings really well. I have to admit I'm charmed. His boyfriend (very, very cute) is lucky to have him.
Do you see yourself in the adult industry in years to come?
Absolutely! Some customers don't know that I've been a TitanMen exclusive for more than a year now. It's really annoying because some desperate people I will never work with again in the future are still trying to overpromote me and sell their fucking fake dildoes or fucking cheesy bad "best of" collections for 20 dollars each. I'm really upset, really upset about my stupidity. I'm an exclusive model with TitanMen right now. If some people haven't really noticed it, it's because TitanMen puts emphasis on promoting the quality of their movie first instead of putting their models in front of everything....like a "one star box cover". That's not their way of doing it. Supporting a team of models - more than only one model--and supporting the movie itself first is more appropriate for them. I discovered their way of operation lately and I respect that kind of process; it's just a way to make sure that the career of everyone is evolving slowly but surely, not like shooting stars.
I'm explaining all this to let you know that I still see myself being in this industry for at least a couple more years, maybe interrupted between to re-invent myself. Maybe with a new wig!
What is your sexual position?
You mean Top or Bottom? If I say versatile, it's not true anymore, not really. I think I'm obviously more a bottom than a top (also in the movies). I was a top on my last shoot, though. Basically, I love both, but as time goes on, I'm more attracted to people who are mostly tops. It doesn't give me so many choices, but it's OK for me, I won't complain. Lately, yes. I look at everything I've done in the last year, not the ones before. I just look at my recent work just to know if I have to correct some mistakes, some expressions I need to change. Because I want to do my job well. It's good to look at yourself with a critical eye; of course, I never enjoy looking at myself--I'm just trying to focus on what’s wrong. It helps me to accept myself too.
If someone were to come up to you and say, What do you do for a living?, how would you explain it? What would you say?
It's kind of an embarrassing question, because doing porn is not a full-time activity and I don't have a real occupation or job except for looking at myself in the mirror!!!!
I lie sometimes to straight people, though, since it can be shocking. I've said I'm a go go dancer or bartender or something like that, and they believe me.
How often are you recognized out as porn star Francois Sagat?
Very often, everywhere...in the street, in shops, at the bakery, at the supermarket, in the subway, the train station, the airport, in the plane (during the flight by flight attendants who ask for an autograph LOL), at the restaurant, the theater, everywhere in the world (at least in big cities). It's crazy!
But most of the time, people are very nice and admire me; that's cool. But being anonymous would be great sometimes. Thankfully, straight people don't recognize me, but they do look at my tattoo when I don't hide it.
What is some advice you'd give to a fresh face who wants to get into the business?
First of all... DON'T DO IT!!!
At least choose a good company you can trust; first, ask other models before making a choice. Never sign as an exclusive until you read everything in the contract seriously and correctly and get a good lawyer. Then think twice before doing the first shoot of your life. Just BE READY... but my advice is, don't think you will be the New Star because it will never happen; the more you want to be famous, the more you have the chance to fail. This goes not only for porn, but for everything. And never act like a star before you become one...I know a lot of porn actors who think they're irreplaceable; I think that’s terrible behavior...I am replaceable, everybody's replaceable, there is room for everybody. The word "pornstar" is not part of my vocabulary.

Some good stuff with photographers...some new movies to come out. Just did some promo appearances in Los Angeles and Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, Florida and will be in San Francisco for the Folsom Street Fair this summer – that’s it. And I'm gonna have a child.

Okay. Until now I've not really been jealous of your job... but it's official now.
