Grabby Awards Nominations Announced

I have not decided if I am going to go to the Grabby's this year. I really have no reason other than taking some snapshots for this blog. I went last year and was bored to death and the alcohol was not even working, so a little more than half way through the show I caught a cab back to my Hotel. Ya never know- maybe this year will be different.

CHICAGO - Gay Chicago Magazine posted the list of nominations in 21 categories for its 2006 Grabby Awards today.

With 18 and 11 nominations, respectively, Rascal Video and Wrong Side of the Tracks 1-2 lead in studio and picture nominations. (Rascal's total includes one nomination for its subsidiary line, ElectroVideo.)

Raging Stallion Studios racked up a total of 14 nominations, mainly for its hit Arabesque which received eight, including a nod for Best All-Sex Video.

Also with 14 nominations is COLT Studio Group, parent of Buckshot Productions. Buckshot's Beyond Perfect falls right behind Wrong Side with ten nominations.

Lucas Entertainment's Dangerous Liaisons, which tied for Best Picture with Wrong Side of the Tracks at the GAYVN Awards two weeks ago, received nine nominations.

Falcon Studios, whose brands include Mustang and Jocks, received 13 nominations.

The six nominees for Best Video are 110 º in Tucson (Titan), Beyond Perfect (Buckshot), Dangerous Liaisons (Lucas), Dirty Little Sins (Red Devil), Thirst (Adonis), and Wrong Side of the Tracks 1-2 (Rascal).

Nominees in the Best Actor category are Rod Barry (Thirst), Brad Benton (Dirty Little Sins), Johnny Hazzard (Wrong Side of the Tracks), Jason Kingsley (Beyond Perfect), Gus Mattox (Dangerous Liaisons), and Brad Patton (Beyond Perfect).

For the second year, VOD company Maleflixxx will present a "People's Choice" award. The winning title is chosen from the most popular movies (not necessarily first-released in 2005, the year honored by the Grabbys) shown on its site during the year. Nominees in this category are The Matrixxx (Big Blue), Recruits (Falcon), Score (High Octane), Manhunt.TheMovie (Hot House), Crossroads of Desire (Kristen Bjorn), Italian for the Beginner (Lucas Kazan), Hell Room (MSR), Hard as Wood (Raging Stallion), and Ace in the Hole (Studio 2000).

The 2006 Grabby Awards will be presented on May 27 at the VIC Theater in Chicago. Chi Chi LaRue and Honey West will co-host for the eighth time.

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - AN OPEN LETTER TO AVN AND THE INDUSTRY

Dear Friends,

I write this letter to set the record straight and to apologize to the management and staff of AVN for my unfortunate lapse of character at this year's GAYVN's. Let me start by saying that neither Chris Ward, Kent Taylor, Michael Brandon, nor any member of the Raging Stallion contingent had anything to do with my actions. The blame for that rests totally on my shoulders and was not (as speculated in several blogs) a reaction to Mr. Lucas's win for Best Picture. It was instead a knee jerk reflex to his outrageous and uncalled for "Fuck You" to the judges in particular but also to the industry in general.

This August will mark my 30th year in the adult industry. During that time I have faced Senate investigations, indictments and extradition attempts to 2 foreign nations, cancer, HIV, tuberculosis and a debilitating seizure condition. Through all of those periods it was members of our community (both print and video) that came to my aid. When my family had abandoned me and the government had cut off all subsidies, it was the people I had spent years working with who rode in like the cavalry, nursing me back to health and ultimately giving me the strength and support to carry on. When I look upon the esteemed group assembled at your event it is with the thankful eyes of a man who knows to whom he owes his success and life.

I say all this not to evoke sympathy but to merely explain my feelings of horror and astonishment to Lucas's remark. He not only insulted his co-winner Chi Chi, someone whom I not only consider a dear friend but also an industry icon, he insulted the whole room. Every writer, every company and filmmaker, every member of our community he dismissed with a nihilistic sneer and I (clearly without thinking) reacted. I am not using his abortively pedantic behavior as an excuse for my actions. Again I apologize for them, as I did in person to Mr. Lucas at the after party.

Now while I arguably may have chosen a questionable delivery system, the message contained therein was universal for the room. Once again I say to Mr. Lucas that I have the utmost respect for you as a filmmaker, but that in future (and I say this from the heart) perhaps you should consider that the path you now trod was paved by the work and sacrifice of others; others who might take offense when the efforts of their lives' work is condescendingly pissed on by a colleague they have graciously embraced.

In conclusion, I offer my deepest and sincerest apologies for my unfortunate indiscretion. My intent was never to disrupt the event but rather to defend its honor.

That platform is definitely open to him whenever he's ready to discuss things in further depth and promote his web site and other upcoming business ventures."

About StarrFucker (New)

Currently I work as a Video Editor, Photographer, and a freelance Porn Reviewer. These are all behind the scenes jobs in the world of porn... I am guy in the industry who stays dressed and remains unseen yet, is always there. I have a different view point of the adult industry than many people- somewhat bland and often jaded. I consider myself the outsider looking in on both the fans and the stars of gay porn. Sometimes my lack of ethusiam provides new ways to look at porn and sometimes it is just me being uninteresting.

I started StarrFucker honestly just to make extra cash. I am just another constantly struggling artist living in Los Angeles. My goal however is to stray away from the norm of the hundreds of other porn blogs. Of course I am going to throw at you affiliate links like crazy but, I am going to really be selective and do so with a good reason. But, unlike John Q. Perv publishing his blog in the backwoods of Kansas; I have real access to the porn industry and work on the sets. Again, nothing glamorous... I am jsut the guy who picks up the used condoms on the set, the guy who lies on his back holding a spotlight on a model's plugged hole, the guy who... well, you get the idea.

I am a shy guy, an observer if you will... I don't get excited over the good-looking guys who get naked for you... I am far from a model myself- pretty damn far. The party was held at the Abbey in West Hollywood and started as the GAYVN Award Show over at Rage drew to an end. The reason I wanted to go was to get some shots for the blog and I did... And The Winners Are...

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Michael Lucas' Dangerous Liaisons and Chi Chi LaRue's Wrong Side of the Tracks 1-2 tied in the Best Picture of the Year category at the GAYVN Awards held at Rage Nightclub in West Hollywood tonight.

Wrong Side, the evening's major winner, also won trophies in six other categories including Best Director (LaRue), Editing (CH), and Videography (Hue Wilde). Johnny Hazzard, Wrong Side's star, scored a triumph with three wins: Best Actor, Sex Scene (with Tyler Riggz), and Solo Performance. Dangerous Liaisons won in three additional categories: Best DVD Extras/Special Edition, Screenplay (Tony DiMarco), and Supporting Actor (Kent Larson). Gus Mattox was voted Performer of the Year, and Roman Heart was named Best Newcomer.

This year's GAYVN Hall of Fame inductees are performers Jake Andrews, Michael Brandon and Randy Cochran, and director/videographer Brian Mills. All Worlds Video studio owner Rick Ford was given a Lifetime Achievement award. TLA Video received an award for Outstanding Achievement in the gay adult industry.

10th Annual Gino Colbert Film Festival at TomKat

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Beginning Friday, March 3, Los Angeles' only gay cinema, the TomKat Theater, once again hosts the Gino Colbert Film Festival. It will run through March 16.

The lineup features a triple bill each week of classics and premieres. March 3-9 will see the world premiere of Colbert's Four Score. Its sequel, Four Score 2 will debut March 10-16.

The Four Score movies contain four individual stories each, a format mastered by Colbert, and introduce Colbert's "Asian sex machine" star Eric Hung and another newcomer, Juan Casannova. Also in the ten-man cast are Trevor Knight, Nick Capra, Matthew, and Brady Martin.

Four Score 2's cast includes Brad Rock, Trevor Knight, Jason Crew, Markie, and Eric Hung.

Among the Colbert classics to be screened are Three Brothers, starring Vince, Hal, and Shane Rockland, Men in Blue, and Motel Sex, all of which were given their world premieres at the TomKat.
