GAYVN Awards Nominations: Titan Media, Lucas' Dangerous Liaisons Lead Studios, Films
CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Sixty-five studios, 23 of them first-time nominees, share a total of 266 nominations in 35 categories for the 8th Annual GAYVN Awards, GAYVN Editor Doug Lawrence announced today.
With 26 nominations, Titan Media emerged as the studio with the most nods for trophies at the March 9 event. (Its total includes two nominations for MSR Studios movies that Titan recently acquired from the estate of MSR's late owner, Tony Alizzi.)
Three studios garnered 20 nominations each: All Worlds Video, Raging Stallion Studios, and Rascal Video. (Two of Rascal's nominations are for sister company, ElectroVideo.)
Other top-nominated producers are Falcon Studios (19), Lucas Entertainment (18), and COLT Studio Group (16).
Michael Lucas' Dangerous Liaisons, with 13 nominations, is the single most nominated movie. Following right behind it are Rascal Video's Wrong Side of the Tracks 1-2 with 12 and Raging Stallion Studios' Arabesque with 11. Each of these titles is in the running for Best Picture, 2005.
Other top-nom'd movies include Buckshot Productions' Beyond Perfect (9), and Titan Media's Cirque Noir (8). Jet Set Productions' Wet Palms 7-9 and Red Devil Entertainment's Dirty Little Sins earned seven each.
In announcing the nominations, Lawrence extended his congratulations to gay XXX producers for their exemplary work in 2005. "But it sure made our job selecting nominees a hard one," he said. "The studios themselves know what a difficult job this is," he added, "many of them submitted four or five movies per category."
This year, trophies will be handed out in 38 categories. The total includes Best Newcomer, Performer of the Year, and Best Renting Title.
"We dropped one category, Best Director — Bisexual Video," Lawrence said, "and combined two others to make Best DVD Extras/Special Edition. We created the Best Specialty Release: Extreme category to free up the Best Specialty category for milder fetishes."
Special awards and Hall of Fame inductees will be announced in February.
All nominated performers and studios are invited to the GAYVN Awards show on March 9 at Rage Nightclub in West Hollywood, Calif. The event is free, but tickets are required. Contact Doug Lawrence for ticket information. Because of venue size, this event is not open to the public.
The 8th Annual GAYVN Awards show, hosted by Chi Chi LaRue, is sponsored by ASACP, Cable Entertainment Distribution; Cybersocket; Gay Hot Movies; Epoch; Maleflixxx, ManLine; NakedSword, and Topco Sales.
